Bomb blast in kabul

KABUL
A bomb exploded on Sunday morning at the police headquarters in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, killing at least one officer and wounding another six, officials said.
“A suicide bomber in military uniform carried out the attack on the third floor of the building, where my office is located,” Kabul's chief of police General Mohammad Zahir Zahir said.
Speaking to The Associated Press by telephone, he said: “Unfortunately as a result of this attack, a police officer who was a director of my office was killed and at least six other police offices are wounded. “
Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said the explosion happened in the compound at about 9 am (local time), when the area was crowded.
The explosion came about two hours after another blast was heard in the city.
Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Mohammad Zahair Azimi said that explosion was an attack on an Afghan army vehicle that resulted in no casualties.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for both attacks via a recognised Twitter account, though it was unclear how the attack occurred or whether a suicide bomber was involved.
